The initiative

In too many classrooms across Tanzania, students are left behind โ€” not because they lack ability, but because they lack access. From outdated materials to undertrained teachers, the barriers to quality education hit underserved children the hardest. This campaign was launched to level the field โ€” starting from the lower grades.

With the support of the Cotswold Foundation, Elimu worked with schools and communities to improve early literacy and numeracy, build up learning environments, and support Most Vulnerable Children (MVCs) in staying in school.

What we did
Trained 57 teachers in child-friendly teaching practices, including 25 pre-primary and 32 Grade I & II teachers
Distributed desks, uniforms, and learning materials to schools in need
Supported 186 vulnerable children with essentials to stay enrolled
Reached over 15,000 students, including 2,927 in pre-primary and 12,859 in lower primary grades
Engaged 6,500+ parents in learning support at home and in schools
Why this matters

Education is a right โ€” not a privilege.
This campaign helped bring that right closer to reality by removing practical barriers and supporting the people who make learning happen every day.
